Over the next month, the AAPT subscription renewal notices will be sent and Chair John Pitchers reflects on the past year
Dear AAPT Members,
As another membership renewal period begins, I want to thank you sincerely for your unwavering support this past year. Your dedication fuels our work on behalf of all APTs, and we’re committed to building on this momentum in the year ahead.
With the pace easing slightly, now is the perfect time to reflect on our achievements and look forward to exciting developments.
Professional Code of Practice Update
Led by Vice-Chair Lydia Judge-Kronis CSci FAAPT, our working group has reached a major milestone: launching practical standards for APTs.
As a non-regulated profession, these standards—crafted by APTs for APTs—will help ensure consistent, high-quality technical work across NHS and Local Authority mortuaries. Think of them as our equivalent of the RCPath autopsy guidelines: a framework to benchmark quality and elevate our profession.
Key Autopsy Guidance Contributions
AAPT remains at the forefront of shaping best practices. We recently contributed to the RCPath updated guidance on non-suspicious death examinations and high-risk infectious autopsies, ensuring APT voices are heard in critical standards.
CPD Made Simple
