The Special Achievement Awards are an annual event run by St Georges’ Hospital, Tooting, South West London, to highlight outstanding work carried out by staff within the Trust through out the year.
In 2012, Senior Anatomical Pathology Technologist, Barbara Peters, was nominated and honoured for an individual award for dedication and hard work to the Mortuary service for the past year, especially in the Paediatric and Perinatal sections, where she is the lead technologist at St Georges’.
Barbara was nominated by a member of staff within Trust and this was what was written to get Barbara honoured for the award.
‘Barbara Peters is a genuine, kind, and thoughtful person who cares for the people we have lost with respect and dignity. The work that she does for perinatal babies is superb helping families to deal with their bereavement and assisting them in the shortest possible time. Her manner puts people at ease. It takes a special person to do the job she does and she is that person. She deserves to be recognised for her dedicated work’.
This is not the first time that Barbara has been commended for her dedicated work to the bereaved. She was awarded a Trust Value award for Excellence in 2011 after being nominated by a bereaved parent.
The AAPT offers Barbara congratulations on this wonderful acheivement.
