Dr Simon Spiro will present on "From spiders to whales - PMs across nine orders of magnitude"
Simon is the wildlife veterinary pathologist for the Zoological Society of London (ZSL).
He graduated from the University of Cambridge with degrees in pathology and veterinary medicine in 2010, and got his PhD in virology from the University of Oxford in 2014.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. At ZSL he is responsible for conducting post mortem examinations on every animal that dies in ZSL's collection of 25,000, ranging from the smallest invertebrates to the largest megafauna.
He is also the pathologist on the Institute of Zoology's Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme (CSiP), which is responsible for investigating the deaths of whales, dolphins, sharks and turtles in English and Welsh waters.
