AAPT Council Nominations 2025: Shape the Future of the Profession

The Association of Anatomical Pathology Technology(AAPT) is seeking passionate members to stand for election to its governing Council ahead of the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Saturday, 27th September 2025 in Bristol. With ten seats available, this is your opportunity to influence the strategic direction of the AAPT and contribute to the advancement of the profession.

Why Join the AAPT Council?
As a Council member, you will:

  • Help set the strategic vision of the AAPT in line with the AAPT Strategy
  • Collaborate with peers to shape policies, education, CPD initiatives, and events.
  • Represent the interests of members at a national level.
  • Uphold the AAPT’s Code of Professional Conduct and constitutional objectives.

Council Structure
The Council comprises:

  • Executive Officers: Chair, President, Vice-Chair, and Treasurer.
  • Ordinary Members: Dedicated professionals driving sub-committees (e.g., education, conference planning, paediatrics).

Are You Eligible?
To stand for election, you must:

  • Be an AAPT Fellow or Member in good standing.
  • Secure a nomination from another AAPT member.
  • Hold professional registration with either:
    • The Academy for Healthcare Science or the
    • Science Council (as a Registered Scientist, Chartered Scientist or Registered Science Technician).
  • Demonstrate diplomacy, confidentiality, and a commitment to advancing the profession.

Time Commitment & Expectations

  • Attend 3 meetings annually (mix of in-person and virtual).
  • Join at least one sub-committee or working group.
  • Expenses for travel are reimbursed; roles are voluntary.

How to Nominate

  1. Download the Council Nomination form
  2. Submit completed forms to the AAPT Secretariat by 30th June 2025 – a ballot will be required if nominations exceed 10
  3. Results will occur at the AGM on 27th September 2025
