Introducing the new AAPT student representative

A warm welcome to Jennifer Old as the student representative on the AAPT Council



The AAPT Council are delighted to welcome Jennifer Old as the new Student Representative. All at the AAPT very grateful for the outgoing Student Representative Eve Murrell MAAPT who has excelled in providing a voice for student APTs and is still leading the AAPT Equality, Diversity and Inclusion working group.

Jenny said: "I am very excited to be the new student rep for the AAPT. I'm looking forward to the input I can provide and the new knowledge I will learn throughout my time as student rep. I can't wait to get to know other members of the AAPT and hopefully provide some good feedback on behalf of students"

What are the AAPT Council student representative functions?

  • To liaise with students on all training courses by means of joining various student networks currently in operation 
  • To report back to the AAPT Council on a regular basis of student concerns / compliments and progress with APT qualifications – face to face & written report
  • To be involved in relevant committees as the student representative to promote the student voice and provide signposting to events of interest that would support student learning
  • To be a regular contributor to AAPT news forums – website / Facebook & Twitter – promote good news stories of student's achievements 
  • To signpost students with specific concerns / ideas or improvements to committees within the current AAPT structure
  • To attend the Annual Educational Event (possibly have a student rep table / area) 
  • To promote the online AAPT CPD portfolio 
  • To participate in AAPT careers webinar events
