Inside the internationally renowned NHS Blood and Transplant Tissue Bank in Liverpool, the largest retrieval and storage facility of human tissue in the UK, you will meet and follow dedicated teams travelling across the nation day and night, revealing the extraordinary journey of tissue donation. From poignant telephone calls with the recently bereaved to the challenging tissue donations carried out by the retrieval team through to transplantation. This is an opportunity to enter this never-before-seen world.
Away from the medical process of the retrievals, you will also meet some of the many young tissue recipients as their lives are transformed through the generosity of donors. From those nearly blinded by disease, sporting hopefuls whose dreams have been dashed by injury, and those confronting life challenging illness.
