Ben Swift FAAPT wins poster prize

The 10th Palliative Care Congress was held at the Harrogate International Centre 12th-14th March 2014. Following the success of Gateshead in 2012, it was a two-day event, Thursday and Friday scientific programme with some sponsored educational and cultural events on the Wednesday afternoon and evening before.

This year, the host organisations, the Association for Palliative Medicine of Great Britain and Ireland and the Palliative Care Research Society are joined by several partner professional associations to bring together an eclectic and stimulating programme of lectures, seminars, workshops, proffered papers and posters.

These include the Association of Bereavement Service Co-ordinators (ABSCo), the Independent Association of Nurses in Palliative Care (IANPC),  Association of Palliative Day Care Leaders (APDCL) and Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Oncology and Palliative Care (ACPOPC). So we are hoping to see an even wider variety of health care professionals in 2014.

Mortuary & Bereavement Services Manager Ben Swift won the poster presentation prize. The poster was about developing a bereavement service and how small changes can have big differences. There were 72 entries on topics from ‘Improving End of Life Care (EoLC) through Innovative working’ to ‘The clinical and strategic impact of generic documentation for anticipatory prescribing at the end of life’.

Well done Ben!
