Precautions regarding COVID-19 after death
AAPT are aware of the latest guidance stating that body bags are not required and that viewing, hygienic preparation, viewing and embalming are all permitted
We are urgently trying to clarify this guidance with PHE, especially around body bags and PPE. In the meantime, AAPT advise following the RCPath guidance until we have confirmed the situation. Taking more precautions than necessary will not cause harm, but taking fewer precautions is clearly a risk, so where there is doubt, we advocate over-caution until specifically told otherwise.
